I bought three big boxes of microwave popcorn equaling 75 bags. That's what the gremlins will be getting in their pumpkins when they knock on my door tonight. I simply cannot have a gigantic bowl of candy sitting in my living room this year.
TAKE AWAY: I am powerless over candy.
LOL! But what a great idea! I'm sure the parents will love to snag a bag of popcorn from their kidlet's instead of yet another chocolate bar. When I was a kid, one of our neighbors would put out a giant ice chest with every soda imaginable. It was great to hit their house after an hour or so of trick-or-treating.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Not only did you find a way to avoid the candy, you thought of a wonderful treat for the kids. (I don't get trick-or-treaters where I live... kids don't want to climb all the stairs it takes to get to my door. If kids (and parents) came around this condo complex to trick-or-treat, they would definitely work off most the candy they consumed!)
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea. Once when I was 15 or so, we ran out of candy so my dad came up with the idea of handing out Walnuts! (We had a tree so we had a lot.) The first kids we gave them to said "Walnuts?!" As soon as we closed the door, they put them on our walk and started stomping on them. So we chased them down the street while my dad went to the store for more candy!
ReplyDeletePost comment: the popcorn was a huge success ... the kids loved it. Love the ideas and laughs (John) you gave me here.
